From 24 to 26 November, the 4th National Academic and Technical Exchange Conference on Mineral Materials and the 22nd National Technical Exchange Conference on Processing and Utilisation of Non-metallic Minerals were successfully held at the Holiday Inn Express Guangzhou. The conference was hosted by the Mineral Materials Branch of China Silicate Society, undertaken by the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of Guangdong University of Technology, and co-organised by six provincial and ministerial key laboratories, including the Professional Committee on Efficient Utilisation of Non-metallic Ore Resources of China Mineral and Rock Geochemistry Society, the Mineral and Rock Materials Committee, and the Key Laboratory of Environmental Catalysis and Health Risk Control of Guangdong Province, and the Key Laboratory of the Key Ministry of Education for the Green Utilisation of Critical Non-Metallic Mineral Resources. The conference was co-organised by six provincial and ministerial key laboratories, including the Key Laboratory of Green Utilisation of Key Non-metallic Mineral Resources under the Ministry of Education of Guangdong Province.
The conference was chaired by Sun Chuanyao, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, as Honorary Chairman, and Prof Zheng ShuiLin of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) and Prof Yuan Peng of Guangdong University of Technology as Conference Chairmen. Tan Fu, Secretary General of China Silicate Society, and Prof Yu Lin, Vice President of Guangdong University of Technology, delivered speeches on behalf of China Silicate Society and Guangdong University of Technology respectively at the opening ceremony of the conference, expressing their high expectations and good wishes for the high-level development of Mineral Materials Division, cross-fertilisation of the field of mineral resources and the environment and synergistic progress of the disciplines. Focusing on the theme of "green development", the conference focused on the hotspots and cutting-edge issues in the fields of low-carbon and high-efficiency utilisation of mineral resources, carbon neutral application of mineral resources and materials, and scientific and technological innovation of key non-metallic minerals, and carried out thematic seminars in four sub-sessions (environmental mineral materials and carbon neutral, mineral materials and resource utilisation, functional mineral materials and advanced application, and cross innovation and development of mineral materials) respectively. and carbon neutral, mineral materials and resource utilisation, mineral functional materials and advanced applications, cross innovation and development of mineral materials) carried out thematic discussions, and displayed the new technologies, new products and new equipment of a number of industry-leading enterprises. The conference arranged 152 oral reports, including invited reports, and received nearly 100 academic abstracts and technical abstracts.
