In order to help undergraduate students have a more comprehensive understanding of the "Thousand Seedlings Plan", build a learning and communication bridge with research mentors, and solve the confusion of choosing research mentors, the School of Environmental Science and Engineering held the "Thousand Seedlings Plan" launch ceremony and research team "double selection meeting" in Room 208 of Building 3 of Engineering on the evening of July 3. Vice Dean of the college, Ji Yuemeng, and undergraduate students from the "Thousand Seedlings Plan" participated, and the meeting was chaired by Professor Wang Yongzhou.
"The position of the seat determines the direction of the mind." Vice Dean Ji Yuemeng suggested that students should immerse themselves in the group, immerse themselves in the research group, and comprehensively understand the life of graduate students and the forefront of scientific research in their major. Teacher Ji pointed out that the "Thousand Seedlings Plan" can accumulate scientific research experience, exercise one's own abilities, and accumulate advantages for postgraduate entrance exams and employment. She also provides learning suggestions to attending students based on her personal experience. Subsequently, Teacher Ji gave a detailed introduction to the 24 mentors of the college's "Thousand Seedlings Plan" in terms of scientific research and awards, and explained the precautions when contacting mentors.
At the meeting, Lin Sihao, an outstanding student of the "Thousand Seedlings Plan" of the college and a direct doctoral student in the 23rd grade, shared his suggestions for choosing a supervisor. He proposed that when choosing a supervisor, one should consider academic direction and individual factors, and that being suitable for oneself is the most important. He also suggested actively contacting the supervisor in advance. Teacher Wang Yongzhou introduced the work arrangement of the "Thousand Seedlings Plan" for this year to the students and conveyed the strong determination of the college to cultivate students with potential and research abilities.
