In order to fully leverage the collaborative educational characteristics of "undergraduate students entering the research group", mobilize professional teachers to guide students in scientific planning of their studies, and promote full interaction between professional teachers and undergraduate students, the first phase of the "Sailing Series Lectures" of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering was successfully held on the afternoon of December 12th in Conference Room 208 of Building 3 of Engineering. This lecture is hosted by Professor Ji Yuemeng, Vice Dean of the College, and Professor Wang Wanjun, winner of the National Excellent Youth Science Foundation.

Professor Ji Yuemeng introduced the development history, research platforms, disciplinary directions, external exchanges, and talent cultivation of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering. Combining with the issue of environmental and atmospheric pollution, he introduced the basic overview of atmospheric pollution in China, the challenges faced by atmospheric pollution prevention and control, and the specific scientific research directions of atmospheric environmental chemistry, taking into account the world's eight major atmospheric pollution events. Professor Wang Wanjun introduced the characteristics, succession mechanisms, and inactivation mechanisms of pathogenic microorganisms in water bodies, as well as technological development. Through studying practical details and cutting-edge technological perspectives, he guided students towards the discipline of environmental health and pollution control.

After the report meeting, the students who attended the lecture raised questions about university life planning, research goals, and pursuing further studies. They exchanged and interacted with Professor Ji Yuemeng and Professor Wang Wanjun, and the atmosphere on site was very lively. Teachers, with their own academic experience, professional research, and rich teaching experience, carefully answer students' questions, encourage them to grasp the present, consolidate their foundation, and clarify their goals and directions through continuous accumulation of learning.

This event is the first part of the Yangfan series of lectures by the School of Environment. The Yangfan series of lectures aims to guide students to fully understand the first-class disciplines and professional characteristics of the school, clarify their academic plans, and enhance their motivation for success. The School of Environment will actively build a platform for teacher-student communication, listen to the voices of students, effectively help students solve practical problems, and help students grow and become successful.
