On December 2, 2023, in order to promote the environmental discipline of our university to keep up with the development idea of "building plateau and climbing peak", comprehensively implement the "1 + 2 + 3" climbing plan discipline upgrading project and the goal of "rushing first-class" high-level university construction, strengthen the development of science characteristics, and promote the academic exchange, innovation and cooperation of environmental discipline in Dawan District of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. The "Seminar on the Development of Environmental Discipline for Directors of Academies in Guangdong" was held in the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Guangdong University of Technology.
The seminar was chaired by Dean An Taicheng, School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Guangdong University of Technology. The experts included Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, Beijing Normal University (Zhuhai), Jinan University, South China Normal University, Southern University of Science and Technology, Guangzhou University, Zhongkai Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Foshan Institute of Science and Technology and other leaders of environmental disciplines in Guangzhou and its surrounding institutions of higher learning. As well as Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, South China Institute of Environmental Sciences, Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and Institute of Ecological Environment and Soil Research, Guangdong Academy of Sciences.CAI Xianpeng, Director of the Development Planning Department of Guangdong University of Technology, Party and government leaders of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, related discipline leaders and teachers representatives attended the exchange meeting.
Secretary Ge Chang first delivered a welcome speech, welcoming all experts to give guidance and thanking them for their concern and support. Professor An Taicheng introduced the historical evolution and discipline construction progress of the College of Environmental Science and Engineering.
Professor Dang Zhi of South China University of Technology made a detailed summary of the talent training program of environmental disciplines in universities and research institutes in Guangdong and affirmed the rapid development and great contribution of universities and research institutes around Guangdong in the construction of environmental disciplines in recent years. At the same time, we encourage you that as the "leader" of the national economic development, the environmental discipline in Dawan District of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao should also be advanced in China and first-class in the world, leading the development trend of the discipline. Yu Yunjiang, researcher of South China Institute of Environmental Sciences, Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Wang Yonghong, researcher of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Eco-environmental Science Center and Guangdong Academy of Environmental Sciences, Ouyang Wei, professor of Beijing Normal University (Zhuhai), and Gu Xiaoyang, manager of Guangzhou Hualu Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., made relevant reports.
Professor Xiao Jin and Professor Sheng Guoying, 94 years old, were elected as the first outstanding contribution award at this year's conference. Professor Yin Hua and researcher Wang Xinming respectively introduced the achievements of Professor Xiao Jin of South China University of Technology and Professor Sheng Guoying of Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Professor Dang Zhi, Academician He Hongping, Researcher Yang Yang and Professor an Taicheng presented trophies and prizes to the two professors respectively, affirming their outstanding contributions to the environmental discipline of Guangdong Province.
